Creating the music video, ‘Infamous’ with local punk band Hold on Howard has been a thrilling challenge. I have recently been building my skills with special effects, and I was eager to take on a project that pushed those skills to the limit. This music video allowed me to build a digital world in a 3D environment, and figure out new ways to create a larger-than-life concert experience on screen.
I have a strong background in product and marketing videography, which is interestingly where this concept originated. While working on a marketing video with a manufacturer, I had the idea of presenting a product in the fore-ground, and displaying a ‘magic screen’ behind it with animated information. The manufacturer decided to go in a different direction for the project, but I didn’t want the idea to go to waste. I worked with Hold On Howard and was able to revise the concept into a music video (of course substituting some of the more corporate visuals in the original version, with fire and ember explosions).
I feel that combining a marketing ad with a pop-punk music video has created a unique final video— one that has tested my skills with editing and special effects, but has also had me loving every step of the process.
