Laura New is an Australian-born director, writer, and actor with a dynamic background in theater, film, and television. A member of the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE), Laura has established herself as a multifaceted storyteller dedicated to crafting socially compelling narratives.
Her directing credits include a proof of concept starring Matthew Lawrence, showcasing her ability to bring emotionally resonant stories to life with depth and authenticity. She has also choreographed for Downtown Owl, a feature film starring Lily Rabe and Vanessa Hudgens, further highlighting her expertise in movement and visual storytelling.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Laura’s artistic foundation was built through early performances at the Australian Theatre for Young People. She went on to study theater at the University of New South Wales, training at the prestigious NIDA before moving to Los Angeles to further her career.
As an Atlantic Theatre Company alum, Laura’s approach to directing is deeply rooted in character-driven storytelling and authenticity. Whether behind the camera or in front, she is committed to creating work that is both emotionally impactful and socially relevant.
