Director’s bio:

Austin Mitrione is a New Jersey-based filmmaker, has worked professionally in the industry for two years.

He studied Film Directing and Screenwriting at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2022. He was the 2022 recipient of the School of the Arts Outstanding Achievement in Film Award. There he was also the President of FDU Filmmakers, created the University’s first film awards show – The Fairleighs – and interned with PurfekTV.

In his professional life, he’s worked a variety of positions including: Art Production Assistant on Apple TV’s Which Brings Me To You, and worked on permit for IATSE as the Assistant Property Master and Set Dresser on an upcoming feature-length drama, Here’s…Yianni!

This is Austin’s second independent short film he has Directed; the first filmis ‘Boo’ (2022) where’s he’s won awards such as Best Director and Best Horror Film at the Jersey Shore Film Festival.

Director Statement

Grindhouse is an homage to 1970’s low-budget exploitative horror films made on shoe-string budgets that used to be screened at “Grindhouse” movie theatres back in the decade, hence the title of the film.
