Director Statement

As a director, I am compelled to share the beauty I see in life. I was inspired to make, FOUND: The King of Matsutake Ridge, because of the nostalgic emotions brought to the surface while experiencing Chef Phil’s cuisine for the first time. I had foraged with my family as a child, (although we never called it that) and cherish those memories. My mission with this film is to share the beauty and quietness that can be found around us as well as the determination that one man has to create such a unique and well-studied menu.
