Director’s bio:

Justin was born to first generation immigrants from China and
was raised in New York City. He is now a Graduate MFA Student at Columbia University for Creative Producing. Cradling an innate interest in art and cinema, he decided to leave the financial sector in order to pursue his dreams as a filmmaker. He plans to tell stories through his lens and craft films with a distinct and personal voice.

I wanted to make a film that was exaggerated but true, as, “the most personal is the most creative”. I took from my own experiences growing up in New York City and want to amalgamate genres in order to create a film that eases, shocks and makes viewers ponder after viewing. I was influenced by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rope” and think of my film as a combination of that, “Get Out”, “Boogie Nights” and Richard Linklater’s, “Everybody Wants Some”. I aimed to blend these influences to craft a contemporary film that encapsulates the essence of societal disparities, the pursuit of acceptance, and the unforeseen consequences of chasing a life that seems ostensibly unattainable.
