Asbury Park is known as a lively beach town and a hub of creativity. However, it is little-known that residents and visiting angler clubs enjoy fishing on its beautiful lakes. In our film, “The Lure of Asbury Park”, a group of senior citizens compete for prize money in a fishing tournament at Sunset Lake. We experience their triumphs and tribulations in this heartwarming comedy.
“The Lure of Asbury Park” was made specifically for the AP in 3 Film Competition. As part of this local film contest, participants were given 3 weeks to write, shoot, edit and submit a film with a maximum length of 3 minutes and an extra 20 seconds for credits. The APn3 supplied the theme “Hidden Gems.” The competition also required participants to use St John’s Island (aka Robinson Caruso Island) on Sunset Lake in Asbury Park NJ somewhere in the film, as well as incorporating a map as the required prop and the required line of dialogue “What a treasure”.
